Being a bit of a car dunce (well obviously not that much cuz I have an Alfa and LOVE it) I am after a bit of information about a four year service.
I have a 156 2.0 JTS Lusso, 53 reg, coming up for it's 4th birthday (I've owned it for three wonderful years). Only done 30k miles, which is the reason for my posting.
It has always been dealer serviced (at a premium) cuz I was too stupid to realise what a rip off they were. However, last year, on the three year service, I asked them NOT to change the spark plugs, the price they quoted was ridiculous (something like £180).
So, to stop my rambling and cut a long post short, my questions are:-
1) Do people now recommend I get the spark plugs changed, I will be going to an independant mechanic this time, so may get it cheaper.
2) I've read many many posts about the timing belt, again is it recommended that this gets changed now, at four years old, despite the low mileage ?
3) Does anyone know of any good, reliable Alfa mechanics in the Sheffield or South Yorkshire area.
As luck would have it my nearest dealer has now closed (it would now be flooded anyway due to the Sheffield rain), so really I have no choice but to source a decent independant mechanic.
Any advice you guys could offer would be very much appreciated. As mentioned at the top of the post, I love driving it, but have no clue how it actually works
