Re: sump removal

This might sound strange but at a corner try to work in some dental floss. Saw it back and forth and it will cut through the sealant. Do not try to lever the sump off as you may damage the mating surfaces.

Re: sump removal

The 1.6ltr engine has 'slots' in which you can GENTLY lever and ease the sump off but be very careful not to lever off the adjacent aluminium 'tags'. I used a hide mallet. Be careful to only hit it in a reinforced area!

Have you removed the two small screws that hold the sump next to the clutch?
There is a small gap forward of the starter ring gear, look up there to find two hidden screws!
You will need a fairly long bladed torx or allen blade to reach it.

What job are you removing the sump for?
