Re: Had a crash yesterday - likely cost of repair?
Hmm, few years back in my Mondeo Mk1 I was rear ended by a Corsa and my rear bumper was wrecked, completely done in, the exhaust had fallen off as well, but that was about it.
Her insurers sent a bloke round who claimed the car couldnt be repaired as it would cost too much, considering this was a classic 1994 Ghia with only 29,000 miles on the clock at the time I was pi$$ed off major style!
Apparently the rear bumper would cost something like £600 on its own! Which I thought was a little extreme considering they dont really cost that much, lol
So anyway, they settled and gave me £1200 for the car and allowed me to keep it as well.
I managed to buy an ENTIRE RS kit for £280 off of Pro Sport UK and get it sprayed and fitted for around £500. Then I went and bought a Piper exhaust system from Halfords and had that fitted costing about £300 in total.
The car now looks WAY better (I still have it!), No way was I NOT going to get the repairs done, I love that car, lol.
Basically mate: Get the repairs done yourself, ie: order in the parts and get your local bodyshop to fit them, you'll save loads.
Take it steady,
