Idea HELP! Problem started with the CAM

Hi just a quick question. Just had my head replaced following my belt snapping. And just got told that the car cuts out when idling (Haven’t picked up the car yet) …
Its been suggested that I could need a new ‘Air mass meter’ or just need my Selespeed recalibrating (Both of which i need approved garage visits)
Not knowing the first thing about engines I called 2 Approved Alfa garages and just checked this would fit the sympton. Both told me they’d have to review his work….. And investigate the problem… both implied that there could be an issue with it!
Im a little concerned and hoped someone out there might have been through a similar situation and could have any advise…after the work I just had to have done I cant really afford to pay for hours of work at 85+vat per hour!
Please help!!!

Re: HELP! Problem started with the CAM

When mine snapped and it was all put back the same happened.

Turned out to be a crack in the plastic inlet manifold ..... if the car backfires, the pressure can damage this part. They are bl**dy expensive new, but you should be able to pick up a 2nd hand one for around £100. The 156 has a variable inlet system, so it's not just a plastic box. It's a plastic box with flaps inside ...

Trouble is, it's probably going to have to come off to see if it is the inlet that's the problem as s*ds law says the crack in on the underside where it can't be seen/felt.

cheers, Gary
