I've had my car for three years and the brakes have always been poor. They're ok around town but if I ever have to brake sharply not much happens.
The ABS seems to cut in very often, even at parking speeds, but the ABS pedal hammering sensation feels really soft and muffled if that makes sense, not the sharp buzz that most cars give. The tyres are decent and very grippy, so I don't believe the wheels are actually getting anywhere close to locking - basically the ABS shouldn't be cutting in as far as i'm concerned. But even ignoring the ABS, it still takes ages to stop whether the ABS cuts in or not. I think I could stop in half the distance in my Fiat coupe which has standard 305s.
I've changed the pads and discs, had braided lines fitted, two separate specialists have bled the system, but nothing has helped.
Does anyone have any ideas? Or are the brakes on GTs just useless?
