The big diesel con

Hi, yes- to add a little closure to this (and to help people searching in the future), I can confirm a new MAF sorted the car out. EGR now functions properly and car runs A1.
I'm not experienced enough to analyse the data properly in MultiECUScan, but the MAF reading was all over the place, at idle and throughout the range.
I removed the MAF sensor from its housing and was greeted by the sight of a totally unbranded, aftermarket replacement part (fitted by a previous owner). One Bosch replacement later and the EGR is not opening fully at idle (no more chugging idle) and the acceleration is smooth.
Desired air flow is now almost identical to actual airflow readings.
What annoys me slightly is that the previous owner took the car to an Alfa main dealer for this problem and they quoted him for a replacement EGR valve- which clearly was not the problem.
Edit- I would love an EGR delete, but wanted the car to run properly before I start modifying it.
