Alarm country code settings, anyone know the difference?
I see on my 147 and Spider the workshop manual talks about different country codes for the alarm system which change certain parameters (volume of the siren, beep or no beep on arm/disarm etc) what I'm interested in is the country code with the auto re-arm feature.
Apparently when it's switched on it automatically re-arms the alarm after 40 seconds if no doors are opened when the car is remotely unlocked. It's also supposedly arms the alarm automatically if the drivers door is opened then closed after a delay.
Does anyone have a breakdown of the functions these various country codes activate/deactivate/modify? There was a list floating around the Web awhile back but for the life of me I can't find it again.
The reason for me wanting this is because lately there have been a spate of 'remote jamming' robberies out of cars in SA. A few times at the local shopping mall my remote hasn't worked but if I wait by the car for a minute or two with my eye out all of sudden it works again
There was also a report recently of a women who's BMW remote was jammed. She walked away but when the thief got into the car it automatically Re-locked, deadlocks and all so he was locked in. Stupid thief but the police still caught him.
