Re: Down Under GT

yes, it was provided by alfa australia (ateco) as a one-off high profile police vehicle. it is based in sydney, so i've not seen it around.

word has it, there's another alfa recently provided too. not sure if it's a brera or 159, but i believe it's a new model.

Re: Down Under GT

yeah, looks very cool, but they don't actually use them as "Police" cars. A number of manufacturers give them vehicles as publicity, and the Police are careful to call them "community cars". You won't actually see them out on the roads enforcing the law - the cars are used for hack work to take members of the constabulary to meetings, liaision duties, etc. I've even seen a 2 seater SMART (Yikes!) in police livery at City Central police station.

A few years ago, Subaru gave the NSW police a couple of WRX's - which were then promptly used by some over zealous officers for highway patrol work - the outcome being none of the fines issued would stand up in court (spedo's not calibrated, etc).

those crazy police.....

Re: Down Under GT

Not like the good old days when the federal police in Canberra had the Jaguar E type as "interceptors" , if you were done in those days , you just copped it sweet.
