Please help put my mind at rest

Hi all,

Firstly let me just say that i have only just joined but have been reading posts on here for a while, got some great tips and also shocked into getting a cambelt/variator change as soon as i could.

had this done last week ready for the holiday which starts tomorrow, driving to cornwall.

Just went to the petrol station to fill up and could hear a beeping/clicking sound coming from the drivers side, even when the car has stopped it makes this noise.

It has been raining very hard here and hoping its just a wet belt or something, as i said its had new everything to do with the cam belt and would just like to put my mind at rest before i start the long journey to cornwall tomorow morning, thanks

Difficult to ascertain, without hearing it, as there are so many open to atmosphere, gears, wheels, belts, bearings etc. in general, on that side of the engine whizzing about!: Just keep your ear well tuned for the noise becoming more audacious, louder, more noticeable, is my best guess. Guy's?????:

We need more info I am afraid.

Does the noise change with engine revs or is it constant no matter what speed the engine is doing?

Water should make no difference.

even when the car has stopped it makes this noise.
This is the bit that puzzles me as it seems to say it does it when the engine is off, so that would rule out tensioners and stuff, but leaves me with no ideas at all.

Could be the contraction (cool down after expansion) often heard when you switch off the car inside away from outside noise. It is faint outside but just metal parts, nothing to worry about IMO. If it sounds like tick...tick...tick etc.
