'rim protector' bits of rubber are a joke. they don't help. if they can repel a 1400kg car from scraping the curb, must be pretty good.
so don't make it a dealmaker/breaker.
Somthing has to be better than nothing......
Been doing some research based on the info in the previous posts, here are my findings using mytres as a source of info. Ratings are better the lower number.
Toyo T1R £55.50 rated 2.1
BFG G-Force £57.10 rated 2.1
Michelin Pilot £75.40 rated 1.6
Bridgestone S03 £64.70 rated 2.5
Falken FK452 £51.50 not rated
Continental Contact 2 £64.40 rated 2.5
Goodyear Eagle F1 £55.00 rated 2.2
Dunlop S2000 £54.80 rated 2.8 (This rating confirms my fears that they could be better)
Pirelli P7, Nero & Rosso do not appear to have rim protectors but the pictures are poor. Don't really like them anyway, used to have them on the back of my Cobra and they wore out in no time.
So, based on rating, cost, appearance and last but not least cos I want it, rim protection, the winner is........
I will be buying a pair soon.
