It's been almost a year now but I could benefit from your experience and knowledge once again please.
Following a period of R & R, I decided to return the Alfa to everyday use last weekend. Following replacement of the battery and intake flexi with new items, i drove the car to the MOT station on Saturday and she ran a treat. She failed on braking efficiency and windscreen washers, which is hardly surprising with the build up of rust etc. I drove home with no problems at all.
On Sunday, I replaced the windscreen washer non-return valve, front brake discs and removed the ridges of rust on the rear discs.
Went for a quick spin and all was fine. Job done, or so I thought, so i booked a retest for Thursday evening !
Last night, I reversed the car down the drive and stopped but left the engine idling. About a minute later, engine died. "VDC failure, go to dealer" message was displayed on the DIS screen, and a flashing engine symbol and key code symbol displayed on dash.
Engine won't start and the throttle body is clicking frantically. If i disconnect the electrical supply from the throttle body, the error symbols extinguish.
What has gone wrong, throttle body or something else ?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
