Alfa Romeo Rev System
Can you tell me if the 156 V6 has a limited valving system, where until you reach a certain rev point it only uses half?
As I have noticed that throttle response isn't all that much until you get to around the 3500RPM range. My ST24 had it, it was a design that saved petrol apparently so if you were just cruising you would only run off half the valves but when you floored it and got to about 3000RPM or so it would suddenly speed off as the other 12 valves kicked in.. Sort of like the affect a Turbo has, only not as fast, lol.
Dont get me wrong, the car has shed loads of Torque and tyre spins like a mother sometimes, and a quick 0-60 test has proved around the 7 second marker, and so far I have had it do 130MPH but ran out of road to agree with it's supposed top speed of 143MPH. I'll take Alfa's word for it though, lol.
So performance wise this sucker is spot on, I just wondered how it worked is all as because after 3500RPM you get thrown back into your seat and I thought maybe it used the same system as my ST24 did. Only better.
