Just wanted to post a small write up of my recent experience with Alfashop, Alfatune and my now EGR-free, remapped GT.
Bought my GT back in November in pretty good shape, just wear and tear items needing some attention really. I decided to drive it for a few weeks first so I could properly compare and contrast the changes I had planned.
Along with a slew of work at Alfashop, including discs and pads all round, hand brake cables, aluminium undertray, oil change etc etc, she was stripped of her EGR valve, given a new MAP sensor, and then remote mapped by Gus at Alfatune to a healthy approximate figure of 195bhp. Having this remote service available is incredibly helpful for those of us in the far flung corners of the country!
Not only does the car idle much more smoothly now, the power increase is extremely useful and available exactly where you need it in normal driving. Additionally, my MPG (according to the trip computer at least...) has increased by a healthy measure.
In the 2/3 weeks I was commuting in the GT before the work, I couldn't get above 40. 39.8 is where it sat, which given my mainly dual carriage way/A road commute was quite low I thought.
Post work, the results are much better. On a long trip a few weekends ago, we saw 57 MPG over around 450 miles of mostly dual carriage-way/A road driving. During the week I now see around 52 MPG, even with the odd day of heavy traffic and massive tailbacks.
Absolute top quality workmanship from all involved. Massive thanks to Alfashop and Alfatune - highly recommended!
