Re: climate control/ac
IF IT'S A PETROL
First things first, GET THE CAMBELT DONE NOW, as a matter of priority tbh. Shame to see a good car die because of a failed couple of quid tensioner and your car is right at the mileage to start worrying about that, so for peace of mind and to protect the car (and your investment in it) get it done this week if you can. The cambelt itself is a seperate job, other jobs that are usually linked in with a cambelt change are variator replacement and water pump replacement as the cambelt needs to be removed to replace both. No need to do either this time unless there are signs of impending failure - water pump not a likely failure at that mileage, variator failure symptoms are a "diesel" noise for a few seconds after start up.
IF IT'S A DIESEL
Ignore the above change the cambelt story and drive away and enjoy it.
Next, welcome and good luck with the car.
On to the Aircon - I find setting it to Auto (2 lights on passenger side, "A" light lit on drivers) and setting the temp to about 70 degrees is quite pleasant. Just leave it on auto and turn the temp up or down, depending if it's too hot or cold.
