Physicist. Taught electronics, structures and metallurgy amongst others as well. Also went to a very good technical high school so can use safely and correctly:-
Lathes, milling machines, shaping machines, die and sand casting etc. When we were 14 years old we made our own working steam engines each from stock metal. Flywheel was die-cast, base was sand cast, cylinder, piston and big end made from brass, boiler used copper and brass. Interesting part amongst others was the testing to destruction of a boiler. Safe way was hydraulically, spectacular way inside a disused air raid shelter, boiler inside, us outside with the pressure gauge. Largest surviving piece of a boiler 8" long, diameter 3 1/2", was about the size of a halfpenny imbedded into the concrete after the explosion.
When tested on the brake mine developed 1/100 h.p.
