Just wondered if anyone has any idea about my problem with over-sensitive brakes on a 156 2.5? The actual stopping performance is very good, and the car just passed the MOT. However, the pedal travel is rather short, and pretty much "all or nothing", making smooth driving rather difficult. What I would like is a much more progressive pedal action, with more travel....it sounds ridiculous, but I'd almost like to introduce a little sponginess. I'd have some idea of where to look if the problem was the reverse (i.e. excessively spongy brakes), but I'm stumped on this one! I've had the car about a year now, and I was told that it had new front pads and disks shortly before I acquired it; the brakes have always been pretty sensitive, but I'm convinced that they have gradually become even more so over the course of the last year (and around 3000 miles), to the point now where they are now spoiling my enjoyment of the car (which in all other respects is fantastic to drive!). I have been thinking about changing the front pads (thinking that they may have become glazed or something), and possibly the disks, as that seems to be the first place to start, but am I barking up the wrong tree?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
