Annoying intermittent faults.
Problem 1 - headlight washers stopped working.
Remove glovebox lid, remove glovebox, remove control relay, blow on contacts give them a run with sandpaper. Replace.
Test headlight washer operation, nothing.
Remove relay, open up relay, wiggle contacts inside, plug relay back in.
Test headlight washer operation. Nothing.
Unbolt and move coolant reservoir.
Unplug wiring to pumps. Reverse wiring so headlight washer motor is powered by screen jet activation.
Test. Motor works.
Check headlight washer pump by activating screen jets. It works.
Put it all back the correct way.
Replace glovebox and glovebox lid. Still working. Ace.
Nothing changed, no idea why they now work. Will keep eye out for Hella 5wd timer relay.
Add mental note to murder whoever designed the relay pod above the glovebox. If the plugs faced the access hole, great. They don't. Idiots.
Problem 2 - drivers side screen washer jet a dribble. Passenger side a jet wash.
Remove screen washer jets and swap over. Problem remains.
Unbolt drivers side scuttle, lever up to get a hand in, yank out pipes. Expect a squashed bit. Straighten out. Test.
Pull out pipes to the Y piece joiner. Reverse pipes there. Test
Get cross. Tank out while length of pipe from Y to jet. See a black connector. Remove connector. Test flow.
Before connector, loads of flow, after connector, virtually none.
Look closely at connector. It's a one way valve and has failed.
Go and buy a new one way valve. Install and test:
Adjusted screen and headlight jets so they aim at something, rather than other road users/pedestrians.
All in all, about 2-3 hours effort. Mainly getting the glovebox out.
Will these fixes last - doubtful.
