Long time no visit
As its been a while, I had a bit of trouble working out which particular problem I had bothered everyone with in this thread....
As it turns out, the problem of rough running was eventually sorted out, more or less. Apparently the last cambelt change was not done properly, and this in turn had affected the belts/pulley thing on the end of the engine. You could see it was running wonky if you looked carefully while the engine was running. (that probably made no sense at all, but its hard to explain if you are a mechanical muppet).
On the downside, it cost £850 to put right.
On another downside, £500 for an MOT in November was the icing on the cake - the Alfa has been swapped for something an awful lot cheaper to run/maintain (not difficult really). Fingers crossed
Loved driving the Alfa - can't get better bang for your buck, not to mention great styling and that certain rarity factor. If thats all there was to it, then great, but there comes a point when you just cannot justify continually throwing money down the loo.
Would like another Alfa in the future, but it would have to be very new and with a very comprehensive warranty
