Re: K&N Filter for 2.5 V6
hi mate, before you buy anything, check my post from today on the same subject with my 2.0 ts.
pascs commented on my post too, thanks again pascs, but knowing what i know now i wouldn't hhave gone the K&N route, or any other product for that matter without knowing what comes in the box first.
if i'd have known that the filter locates directly on to the maf, high up in the engine bay, i would have known that i'm likely to experience some trouble with hot air, or just the huge lack of cold really!
do some more homework first would be my recommendation, or find a free flowing element that fits in the existing airbox, which if i had a good condition airbox is what i would have done in the first place.
i can confirm that with my 2.0 ts, i didn't get any noticeable improvement whatsoever, just a little more noise, but its hard to tell, afterall a few % increase on 150hp is not likely to be as noticable as the same improvement on a 300hp motor.
i only mention that because i run the apexi induction kit on a 300zx twin turbo, and it definitely produces some gains on that, i suspect mainly due to the excellent position of the stock airbox in the first place, right behind the front grill, and nigh on impossible to get engine bay hot air unless my fan turned backwards!!!
good luck, i hope you find a happy solution, me, i'm gonna get the aluminium sheet and the tin snips out and start by making some heat shields!!!
