Its kinda weird... Basically it sounds like an exhaust flexy pipe has gone, but im also getting a rather annoying squeal as im going along about 60-70mph at times.
Initially i thought the rumbling/squeal vibration noise was my exhaust manifold heat shield vibrating. It always does it at around 2500-3000rpm, so i removed the heatshield and its still there.
Ive not seen fully under the car but i cant seem to see a flexy exhaust pipe anywhere on the front of the car.
Also, this high pitched, irritating squeal is getting louder, though it seems to follow no pattern. If i twitch the steering it suddenly stops, then continues immediately once i straighten.
Its not the typical sound of a wheel bearing which rumbles, increasing with speed, this seems to keep the same note a volume regardless of speed. Its bloody loud, and its even more annoying.
Any ideas on what it could be?
I plan to get it in for its 72k service shortly, is on 68k now but will be ages before i reach 72k and i dont want to wait anymore for a cambelt. Ideally id like to be able to point the garage in the right direction and save some money in the process. Especially since its the biggest service, the thermostat needs changing, and the air con needs regassing (poss. fixing!).
Oh the joys, gotta change the cambelt and water pump on my ****box DERV as well...
Any advice and or help would be seriously appreciated! Thanks in advance.
