156 v6 6 speed manual - SOLUTION to shift problem
I've had a gear shift knob rattle in 6th gear when I accelerate. Now I can't select reverse gear.
I've disassembled and inspected the whole gearshift assembly from knob to gear box and found these plastic parts that are either worn or broken.
It seems from other threads that these parts are known to cause issues.
2x Bush 46467103 2340. These bushes are up on the mechanism on top of the gearbox. They are at either end of the pivot shaft and are known to get stiff or wear out and get loose.
1x Body 46411550 2733. This sits under the gear lever. It's where the lever and cables all come together. They split and a shaft moves, messing up with gear selection. I couldn't get reverse.
1x Bush 46470897 2869. This bush sits on an arm sticking out the side of the gear lever. A quarter of mine broke off and disappeared somewhere...
Like most Alfa faults it seems, there is a bit of disassembly to get to these bits. Have fun!
