CV Gaitors

I have a split (only very very small) on the drivers side gaitor behind the hub (the cv joint). Its only tiny but I know the mot testers love to fail people on these. Its only a very small gaitor compared to other cars I have had. How hard is it to replace?

You have two choices,

the carp way ...

..Buy one of those that seal along a seam bolt/glue together boots. Roughly 20min job and might get you through mot?

Proper way.

Remove driveshaft and remove old boot, clean and regrease joint. ( If there is any kind of split then the joint is likely contaminated ) Slide a new boor up shaft, its probably best you take the opportunity to replace both on the same halfshaft at same time. ..Pound foolish & all that.
