Earth point for jump start on 147 1.9jtd

Hello, the cold weather seems to have taken its toll on my battery. I have a portable jumpstarter but it says not to attach the negative lead to the negative pole of the battery for risk of explosion.

Does anyone know a suitable earth point I should attach it to instead? I looked in the manual but it didn't give a specific location.

Once the car has started do not remove the jump leads straight away, leave connected for a few minutes so to enable your battery to recover a little bit.

To be honest I have never heard of a battery exploding because of sparks from a jump lead......, although I agree that it is regarded as good practice to attach the earth to the engine or gearbox casting - if nothing else it ensures that any problem with a dodgy engine earth is overcome.....
