Cheers scottyf. I don't think I will change anything but I will research some alternative stuff out of interest. Once again thanks for your prompt replies.
I rate the amp as poor because it really lacks performance and power as well as a decent sound stage.. plus its impossible to set up. Plus it works of line level inputs which isn't always a good thing. plus the speakers are really poor with the tweeters mounted on the mid cones not in the doors where they appear to be. At least of the 156.
My last car had 5k worth of decent kit so the sound was immense and looking back i felt was way over the top.
I now have a small three amp system costing around 450 quid.
Two small alpines Mrp T220 which are (£30 max secondhand) bridged to run 140w rms into a set of Focal 165KR ELITE K2 Power 6.5" ( £100 max secondhand) in the front doors but with the tweeters moved into the door handles.
A small alpine Mrp M350 mono amp ( £40 secondhand ) running two Focal 10" subs in series ( £70.00 the pair ) so showing 350w rms into the subs. these are in a custom made en-closer that hides under the rear shelf and takes up minimum boot space.
using some focal two ways for rear fill run of the head unit.
All these speakers are in the factory locations and the amps under the rear shelf. install looks factory except the head unit but the sound is anything but..
really good system for pocket type money as far as installs go..
plus head unit runs of USB so can upload loads of different tracks albums etc as and when i choose
In the house i run a top end sony separates system that is very good and uk tuned
