Stuck trying to change variator
I'm trying to replace my timing belt and were planning on doing the variator at the same time, but I've run into some difficulties and were hoping some of you could help out.
I got the variator tool and cam locks, got the belt off and were going to lock both cams. First of all, the cam lock tool is somewhere between 5-10mm taller than the normal pieces that normally sit at the cam, so the bolts get a minimum amount of threads in. It seems fine for the job of holding them in a correct position, but not for taking much torque. Then I get to the variator, the tool seem to be designed to have me twist the inlet cam, but I don't think the locking tools are up for the task of holding the cam still. Otherwise it will just rotate the cam.
How am I supposed to do this? Is there some bolts that can be removed to loosen the variator prior to using the tool? The bolts that is used at the cam doesn't seem to fit 6 or 8 mm, fine or normal threads, so I can't find any longer bolts to use..
