My 156 was rear ended some time ago. The impact shattered the rear bumper, cracked the right-rear light cluster, and pushed the right-hand side of the boot area forward by approx five centimetres. The other party's insurer allowed me to have the car repaired independently. The local dealers and accident repair centre quoted me over £2000 for the work! Thankfully, I found an independent garage who quoted me £1000, including a courtesy car!
I chose the Indy garage .... obviously! If I had allowed the insurance company to take control , my car would have been written-off, with no guarantee that I could buy the car back. The car was perfect before the crash. My insurance was third party, fire and theft .. maybe that gave me greater control over decisions, compared to comprehensive ins?
