Advice Needed !!
After buying my first alfa 5 weeks ago It has just started making a diesel noise on start up (very noiticable).
Its a 2004 1.6ts with 32,000 miles and was first registered on 1/03/04.
My question is ,after reading the forum I belive that ALFA changed the timing belt and associated components, variator, tensioner,ETC replacement interval from 72,000 miles to 3years 36,000 miles whichever comes first.
I asked the question about the belts as i do with any car i buy ,and was told they where not due for replacement until my next service,( about 12 months.(As the mechanic had inspected them and they where fine .)
Now I bought this car from an alfa specialist (Lyles of Newcastle) do other members think they should have done the belts as the car was over 3yrs when i got it ,as I am now concerned with the variator obviously needing replacement.and I dont want the belt snapping!!!
The car came with 3 months warranty does anyone think they should pay for the job,Darren.
