Re: I Broke My 156 :o(
Sorry to drag this post back up again but i feel that I should warn fellow Alfa owners about the breakers yard i used to get the replacement sump.
I only just got the car back last night due to the breakers yard taking so long in getting back to me. Justin at Blubell only just received the sump yesterday morning!!!
The place I used was called Sherburn Auto Spares. They agreed to supply me with a sump for a 2.4JTD. They took payment off my card on 1/6/2007 yet the sump wasn't received till yesterday 7/6/2007. Also to note is that they sump they sent has been repaired. It would appear that the previous owner of the car they got the sump off had also cracked his sump. They have had it repaired, and repaired well, but thats hardly the point!
They told me it would be £125 (a bit steep I thought) plus posting (£15/£20). At no point did they call me to say that the sump would need repairing and that it would be delayed.
I have just checked my credit card statement to discover a charge of £170!!! Apparantly the fee is £125 for the part, £20 for the postage and then they added VAT!!!
I have called them to complain but they aren't interested at all!!
So they were very late getting the part to me, didn't tell me AT ANY POINT that the £125 was excl VAT AND they have sent me a damaged/repaired sump.
I would say to avoid them as they are not cheap. I could have got a brand new sump for £212 incl VAT so I didn't exactly save much bloody money on the repair and have a 2nd hand damaged and welded sump!!!!!!!!!
