I have a 2007 blackline jtdm with 65k...dealer will do cambelt, tensioners ,service, water pump, refurb the alloys and give me a years unlimited warranty on all parts up too and including the turbo and clutch.
Q2 diff..(confirmed) and FSH
4 new tyres and a years MOT, the condition is mint in and out.
thats at least £1000 I wont have to spend in the next 12 month
if you do a search within 100 miles of guildford and set the filters at below 70k see what comes up..ther are a few petrols around the 4 mark but they are all pushing 55k and up, diesels are pricier and I didnt want anything above 70k on the clock
I also didnt want anything less than 18'' alloys and red wasn't an option for me, neither was the light gray.
I could have found a high miler for much less but I cover 25-30k a year, on that mileage ther is no point in buying anything above 80- 90k in a diesel as I would be potentially replacing the car in 2-3 years....the JTS is a potentially a troublesome engine with expensive oil requirments and 35 mpg on the economy I know this after a camshaft replacement and an average of a litre of 10/60 every 1000 miles..
you buy based on the market where you live..buying a car from further afield can be difficult because you have no negotiation powers when someone knows you have gone a long way for the car and on top of this whats a warranty worth if the dealer is 150 miles away...? on top of this the costs of round trips to see three of four cars that may not be right will soon add up in time and money.
we pay more in the south because dealers pay higher rents and the private market is bouyed up by the cost of the dealer cars..
I did see more resonably priced cars from the midlands upwards but its a 200 mile round trip for me just to see the car..with no guarantee its the right one.
london and the home counties...bloody expensive for everything!
