cam locks (V6)
Hi there, besides the cam locks stopping the cams from moving, are they also intended to secure the cams while the cam sprockets are loosened for cam belt replacement purposes?
Is the above part of the cam belt replacement procedure, that the c/sprockets are loosened on purpose in order to turn freely while the new tensioner picks up the belt slack?
The reason I am asking is pretty soon I will be doing it all myself, including the (new) water pump, the two idler pulleys etc. Apparently EB Spares have a water pump with a metal impeller. Which I suspect is a lot superior to the old plastic type. Off the record chaps, I will also be removing (carefully) the entire air con unit including the compressor, radiator, all pipes etc, as it is not needed in my Alfa anymore. Way too much clutter in the engine bay, I am busy "cleaning her up". So who ever want's it (free of charge) will have to either come and fetch it or freight it.
