I should have added that this unusual behaviour in the actual consumption read out has followed me putting a can of Tunap 983 in the tank. First time I have ever added a fuel additive.
Two of my injectors had been leaking or giving "blow back" for some time, so I set about removing the tar build up from around the top of the injectors. When I eventually freed up the injectors and removed them in order to change the copper seal washers, I noticed the tips of the injectors had quite a bit of carbon build up.
Coincidentally someone gave me a few tins of Tunap 983 to try out - it is supposed to clean up the injection system - so I put one dose in the tank along with a fill up of diesel. Since then economy has been down to 45mpg, whereas I was previously getting a long term 52mpg.
Could it be this additive that is causing the system to try to relearn something? Tank nearly empty now, so will see what a tank of straight diesel with no additive brings...
Is there any way of resetting something back to default settings?
