MOT issues - handbrake/rear calipers 156 SW
So, it's that time of year again...
MOT test today and it failed. Tester was unhappy with the headlamp beam pattern, possibly caused by the peeling lacquer but also the Halfords all-weather bulbs which look a bit yellow. I may have put one of the bulbs in upsidedown which won't help.
The more problematic issue is that apparently when the handbrake is released the pads aren't allowed to back off far enough. I'd suspected an issue like this as I could hear a faint scratching when driving slowly with the window down. Tester says it might be that the cables are sticking as the outers are cracked, so the cables might be corroded. Either way, the footbrake and handbrake both passed apart from this.
Having done a bit of research on here it might be sticking pads due to all the crap in the calliper guides. It's booked in to have it looked at but what do you think? Am I looking at just a pair of cables and a set of pads or new callipers on top?
All told though not too bad for a 13 year old car with almost 125k on the clock.
