Having recently aquire my first alfa I'm now in the process of sorting all the little niggles out and a few things are bugging me.
There is a a supercharger like whine from the engine while driving and if the clutch is pressed in it disappears even when revving the engine.
It seems to get louder as the revs climb and I usually notice it after the engine is warmed up.
Also, there is a turbo like whistle noise which is very faint and sounds like it's coming from the vents??? This also gets louder the faster I drive.
I'm going to book it in to get the belts replaced along with the water pump very soon as they are due. I've heard this sort of noise could be tensioner, variations, water pump failing, clutch bearing so what should I be asking the mechanic to replace that could be the source of these noises?
I don't want to get the belts done and then find out it needs to come off again to replace the offending part. So I'd much rather get it all done at once.
Also, where is the closest independent alfa garage to Leeds/Wakefield that won't rip me off and can be trusted?
