Timing belts.

Is there anyway, apart from a blown motor, you can tell if your belts need changing.

Mine is overdue by 10k and runs really well. Should i change them for the sake of changing.

Yes you should change it, it wont effect the way it runs untill it snaps or strips the teeth off.
The change intervals are there for a reason.

Yes, change it. Cambelts are like oil, change on time or earlier, never later, or risk a dead engine.
