hi guys, my opinion is this...
italian cars should use italian tyres.. end of story... this has nothing to do with me being italian :P
But seriously Pirelli are by far the best tyre out there in my opinion for grip in dry and wet weather! there are abit softer compound then your other named brands so will not last as long but this really does depend on your application and need from the tyres, yes budget tyres are good for toodling around town on, but these are alfa's every once in a while we want to take the car up there, get the feel of it, and half of the feel is thro the tyre! dont skimp out, buy the best!
How ever saying that, Pirelli also have there mid range brand out called Marrangoni (I say mid range, more of a testing brand for Pirelli itself) which again focus more on feel and grip then tyre life! I have personnally raced on these and found them to be very good and defo best bang for your buck!
If grip is non important and tyre life is then Michelin are the best to go for, but for me personally the compound is to hard and the sidewalls to soft... Marshalls are very much in similar vain but have a little less grip in wet weather conditions and again I found the compound to hard!
I could go on and go thro all tyre brands but I will stop there!
In a nutshell I would not recommend Federals, if budget is an issue goto Marrangoni's if not use Pirelli's
