147 1.6TS No compression
After a bit of advice and guidance.
My 147 1.6TS has recent developed a chronic misfire on cylinder 3.
I have eliminated coil packs, plugs, injectors and then done a compression check - 14bar on cylinders 1, 2 and 4 and zero on 3.
This sounds to me like a burnt valve - looking down the bore through the plug hole on 3 doesn't show up anything nastier at the moment.
So the dilemma is:
1. Do I spend best part of £500 on repairing the head (once I factor in cambelt, variator, tensioner, water pump, head bolts, coolant plus a couple of valves) Oh and I would need to buy the correct cam lock and variator tools
2. Do I buy a replacement engine that has had a cambelt done on it for £500 and swap the engines out?
3. Do I scrap the car for £150 and look for another? This is my least favoured option as the new car would be an unknown again.
If I do options 1 or 2 - are there any decent folk about in the North West that would be willing to assist, lend the correct tools, drink tea and laugh at me, etc.???
Thanks in advance, Paul
