A GT owner myself, I would encourage you to drive a decent diesel example - you may be surprised and change your mind.
Yes the clutch is a bit heavy and the noise isn't anything like a petrol, but the torque on offer makes the beast a very eager one.
I test drove a 2.2 JTS GT and already knew what the V6 was like (gorgeous noise but hard work and very thirsty), and found the JTS a little gutless. Lots of noise for not much umph. The 1.8 TwinSpark engine in the Blackline is less eager still, but does at least sound good.
Since October, my GT has been brought up to the right level with the following:
• Front ARB and droplinks
• New oil cooler and pipes
• Discs and pads all round
• Oil & filter change
• Upper turbo hose (Viper)
• Aluminium undertray
• MAP sensor
• EGR delete
• Alfatune remap
Not cheap, but totally worth it - with the car now running around 190-200 bhp and a good deal more torque, it's a great machine to drive.
Just some food for thought
