Not Happy selespeed ???

Hi again

Seem to be having a problem with my selespeed at moment, found that I needed to top up the fluid as it was messing around. Bought fluid from an Alfa dealer and topped up. I also cut back the breather pipe as it was kinked slightly and tested.

Appeared to work fine in both modes.

Took it out tonight and found it was fine in city, but it was reluctant to change into 4th gear when useing the gear stick and buttons, this happends when i am not pushing it very hard through the gears. When i try to change into 4th it was very slow or did not change at all and drops into 5th.

This is getting very frustrating.

Does anyone have any idea's before I send it in to Alfa please.

Many thanks

Re: selespeed ???

Looks like a visit to the dealer ask them to recalibrate it.

Re: selespeed ???

Thnaks mate looks like I will have to. It does not engage 4th gear in city or manual mode now. sometimes it goes in when slowing down but misses everytime whislt accellerating.

Hopefully it wont cost a fortune lol

Always my luck, thought I had bought a peach 46,000 on a 2000 plate. Hopefully it does not turn into a bad peach.

Re: selespeed ???

Hi similar problem on one it turned out to be the gearbox casing had cracked inside on the clutch pivot and broke off a couple of small pieces they became wedged in the front casing and caused 4th gear to intermitently not select it causes the selector rod travel to be impaired, you could try to take of the end cover on the box and see if there are any bits floating around in the gearbox, the reason it,s only 4th gear is that this selector rod is the one on the bottom!!!
