Re: My 1.6 147 feels sluggish..
OK, here goes with the full story. Phone Alfa, they told me to go to the dealer, so I did (AMC). Told them that prior to buying the car, I checked the Alfa website, entered 'cambelt' in the search box, and got no mention of the replacement being dropped to 36,000. Since buying, I found this site and found that I needed the cambelt done. I asked them who would be paying for the replacement, as I did not think that the cost should be borne by the customer, and that if I had the info before I bought the car I would have got the dealer to change it. After lots of discussion, they came up with the figure of £140 off of cost, which it would seem they will be claiming back from Alfa, because they were very specific about it. So, bottom line, it cost me £292 for cambelt change, including the variator (variator fitted was £127). Drove the car home and it sounds (and feels) much better. also picked up some selenia oil and an alfa red touch up paint to keep it looking tip top. Must say I am quite pleased with the service that was given at AMC chelmsford, but trying to get them on the phone was a different matter!!!
