I guess the crankshaft seal that the brick could've hit would be on the driver's side just inside the wheelarch so it is possible that a brick came somewhere near but how on earth it would do this without damaging the wheelarch liner, crank pulley, cambelt, cam cover and the other components like the power steering pump is a bit of a mystery, as is the way you could lose that much oil. The oil is splashing around inside the sump but the crank oil seal should be above the level of the oil resting in the sump so you wouldn't lose much.
I think a second opinion would be the way to go. This type of oil loss is more likely from a cracked sump which is a more likely result of hitting a brick.
