Squeaking suspension

Just got my first Alfa, a 147 JTD. I didnt hear anything on a test drive but after gettting it home I took it for about an hours drive and notice that the drivers side front suspension is squeaking, bumping the car up and down also induces the squeak. It sounds like it could be a bush, any ideas? The car has done 64000 miles and has an impeccable service history with receipts to back it up.

Re: Squeaking suspension

Jamie welcome to the site.

Probably the Anti-roll bar bushes, the bushes are integral to the anti-roll bar so a replacement is usually recommended iirc.

Re: Squeaking suspension

Squeaky upper suspension bushes were common on 156s.Sometimes a good squirt of WD-40 with the front suspension jacked up would quieten them and this would tell you, albeit temporarily,if that was the source.Failing that simple and cost free check,it could mean the roll bar and drop-links could need replacing. Our 156 lasted over 50000 miles before they needed doing (£320) but the 147 squeaks were cured by the same job under warranty at only 7000 miles!

Re: Squeaking suspension

I'll try it too anyway as my mechanic said they are a bit worn off but no need to change yet...
Hopefully my 147 would not squik anymore ... I just started when the wheater got hot and dry...
Also the driver seat, passenger seatbelt and the "back door" started to squik and also the rear suspension when passing trough a hole...Any ideeas if thw WD40 would cure them also?
