Re: 147 selespeed 02 - won't go in neutral or start
I'm in a similar position at the mo, I paid a garage £300 to replace parts of the selespeed unit rather than the whole thing, as they found powersteering fluid in the hydraulic system and reckoned the whole thing is contaminated. The problem came back, so they recommended a new selespeed unit, as yours: around £1300 fitted. Instead I found myself a second-hand gearbox and actuator for £300 and as we speak I've just come in from lying under my car trying to get the gearbox back in. (Right now I wish I'd paid someone all the money in all the world to do the job for me!)
The thing is, after all this, I've a sneaking suspicion that it's going to just be the pump anyway! What I should have done but never got round to, was to refurbish my pump while my car was off the road, get an autoelectrician to replace the brushes etc.
