Hi. You could be right,it could have been all a waste of time although i don't know until a phone a dealer who will probably tell me it can't work any way just to sell me a new key! this is what i did;bought a secondhand red key,pulled the old shaft out after drilling the inside of the casing,went to a locksmith and got a blank cut the same as my original,then i filed down and sawed bits off the new blank so that it resembled the metal shaft in the red fob.I then reinserted the new shaft with epoxy resin into the second hand fob and bobs your uncle! I then thought go to a dealer and get him to get the car cpu to recognize the key - easy! Never mind at least i will have a spare key to open the doors just in case i leave my original set locked in the car.
