Selespeed experts needed (147)
I'm new to this forum, so a breef introduction is in order: I'm Paul, 27 y.o. and from Amersfoort, The Netherlands. As of december 2006 I have owned an Alfa 147 2.0 Selespeed of october 2001 with 104.000km's.
Recently I started experiencing very annoying problems with the gearbox. The indicator at my dash starts flashing, but no warnings / faults from the computer. The the gearbox flips into N, reverse (R) is always still working, but 1, 2 etc. won't be selected. Sometimes after a few restarts it works again flawlessly and sometimes I need the AA to get me going again. What they do is unclear to me, I asked them about it, but it seems luck that they were able to get me going again... the problems occurs and disappears totally at random, which is driving me crazy.
The problem occurs at random, so it can be fine for weeks in a row, but last weekend it left me stranded three (!!) times. THe car is NOT stuck in N, since R is still working.
It has been to an AR-dealer (main dealership), (Wim Prins in Nunspeet for the Dutch users, a big one, selling AR only!) two times now, but they have no clue (they litterly told me that) what is causing these problems.
What they tried:
- re-programed the gearbox / reset the computer;
- updated the software
- recalibrated the clutch and gears;
- oil level (SS) is fine (correct oil is used, level perfect);
- SS-pump works ok, pressure is ok (over 40 bar);
- attaching it to the computer/examiner revealed no errors whatsoever;
Now they don't know what to do, they even phoned the Dutch AR-headquarters for advice, but all they could advise was to replace the whole gearbox..... My car has only run 104.000km's and has always been serviced by an official AR-dealership. I am the second owner, and the car has been driven with respect for the technics all the time...
Since I no longer have any warranty on the car, I am not willing to replace the box without the dealer being sure this will solve the problem. They have never found any problem with my car so far, since everytime I bring it to them it works fine again...
The AR-dealer I go to is very experienced, but this puzzles them too... Who can help??
