parking sensors - where to have fitted?

Hello all,

I have recently purchased a 147 and will be moving to London with it. Although well spec'ed it does not have reversing sensors which I have found very useful on previous cars. As I do not want to ruin the look of the car, I want an integrated four sensor set colour matched to the car. I called a local dealer and they quoted me 672.68. <ouch>

Anyone have a recommendation for a shop that can do the job for a more reasonable price? I have looked around this sight and haven't found anything - If I missed it, my apologies. Thanks in advance.

Re: parking sensors - where to have fitted?

What year is the car?

AFAIK, sensors as an OEM option only became available after the facelift.

If you do search in the forum for 'parking sensors' there is a thread where people have discussed fitting an aftermarket kit. Not quite as tidy and potentially a risk to the sensitive multiplex electronics but seemed a fairly successful operation.

Re: parking sensors - where to have fitted?

I fitted a set to a Ford Galaxy for a friend. The kit was bought off e bay, came from HK and cost less than £20. It works perfectly and in that case did not affect the bulb failure system or anything else.
Pretty sure auto elec places do them for upwards of £120 fitted

Re: parking sensors - where to have fitted?

I bought a sensor strip one for my 156 as I have to park in smallish spaces on the street outside work.

Remove rear bumper
Fit the self adhesive strip to the inside of the bumper
wire into boot area
fit the control box
take a feed from reverse light to control box
mount the speaker up under the parcel shelf

Was easy enough and works pretty well. I get a few false alarms when reversing off my sloped drive into the flat road etc but I know when I need to use it and it works great getting me about 6" away from the car behind.

Was about £80 and no visible parts on the cars exterior.

Hi Pablo,

Can you supply a makers name or outlet where you acquired it from, sounds reasonably simple.
