Possible Cam sensor fault - 2.4JTD
Hi, My 2000 (X) 156, 2.4JTD has been running absolutely fine but coming home from work tonight i was sat on the M'Way doing a nice round number, when all of a sudden the Car just cut out.
I pulled over tried to start it and nothing! Not knowing which junctions i was between i fumbled with Sat nav to find out, went to ring the RAC, but decided to give it one last go before i did, and hey presto strung back into life like nothing was wrong. Did another 30 steady, miles to find it did it again, decided to wait gave it another try and started working again. After about the 5th time of it cutting out i decided to call out the RAC to get me home.
The guy did some tests and diagnosed a possible Crank sensor fault, which ties up with what I have read on this forum.
He couldn't however work out where the Crank Sensor was, but thought it may be the sensor at the top of the engine, on the right hand side opposing the battery, however this Sensor had no wire attached! and when he rung the Tech guys they said it wouldn't run without that, which as long as the engine is code it runs fine.
Does anybody know what this sensor is, and or, where the crank sensor is. Also how big a job to change myself.
Thanks in Advance,
