I'm quite happy with CatC, had a few with no issues. Car was CatC, 6 years ago, and had VIC. Looks as if its subsequently had ANOTHER smack, unrecorded, sat in a field for 3 years, bought by this guy in Birm, tarted up with distinctly shoddy work, possibly moody MoT, and passed on. NOW I have partial refund. (Balance pending claim for 'consequential losses'.
I got lucky, Courtesy of a very valuable 'black book', I have the phone number for a guy at TS a mile up the road. BUT, TS actually have NO authority (They've actually published that on their website, so dealers KNOW they have no clout), they, and 'Consumer Advice' will try to 'mediate between' dealer and buyer negotiating an amicable settlement, (Nailing someones ******** to their front door apparently isn't 'amicable') but, ultimately, it's down to the buyer to play hardball and take any action. Police have NO specialised units, VOSA cant investigate specific MoT because its too old. So, despite all our supposed 'consumer rights' if you're going to head butt with a dealer, don't bank on any backup.
