Birth is a brand, it isn't original equipment (just thought I'd make that clear).
I've had Birth upper wishbones and they've been OK but I don't think they're as good as TRW/Original. We tried them a few years back as a lower cost option and ended up replacing quite a few in the 12 months warranty period, we've since stopped stocking them. However, we still see loads of cars that we fitted them on and so its probably not a manufacturing issue, more of a quality control issue.
One thing you have to bear in mind is a lot of these arms don't have clearly distinguishing marks on them, especially the cheaper ones. The cheap set on eBay purporting to be Birth, I would be surprised if it is or the price must be an error. They're a cheaper than usual brand but not anywhere near the Chinese ebay kits you normally see around the £80 - £100 mark.
For what its worth I will be rebuilding the front suspension on my 156 soon and it'll be getting original upper arms, TRW lower arms, Powerflex roll bar bushes, Firstline droplinks, TRW steering arms and track rod ends. Pushing £400's worth of bits. Its had shocks and springs just before I bought it. But I'd expect to get 40k miles out of it before it needing any more work on the front end after this level of work, so its only a penny a mile to have a 156 that drives like it left the factory.
