147 has been drugged
Okay, so I'm starting a new thread because this is a whole new problem. Having just got my Alfa back from the car hospital (zha-zha-zha thread) I have just given it its first proper drive and I am fairly certain it aint the car it used to be. if it was possible to give a car drugs to make it drowsy and unresponsive, that's what i would suspect had happened. Pulling away from a standing start is very sluggish indeed. The revs don't get up and it crawls ponderously away from the line. At about 4,000 revs some kind of life kicks in and it will then accelerate but not in any way that could be described as impressive. If it was a standard 1.4 ford focus it would be fine at this point, but its not the kind of response i'm used to from my 147. I took it along the A27 outside Brighton... nice long road... and for the life of me i couldn't get it above 80mph. Its only a 1.6 but it used to approach 115mph, even 120mph if conditions were favourable. Its not doing anything suspicious rev-wise, there's no noises from anywhere, its behaving like a perfectly ordinary car in every way, but not a 147, more like a Citroen Berlingo.
The work just done was a new cambelt, new sparks, new aircon unit.
Anybody have any ideas what this might be? I'm hoping it could be something to do with the timing set up wrong so I can take it back and have them put it right? Anyone??
