GT Diesel - No turbo pressure, sometimes
I've read a few of the turbo threads about and have a rough idea what's going on. But none of the threads seem to describe exactly my problem.
So, last week the car was running fine.
Last Friday night, on the motorway for a few miles and then started feeling issues. The turbo felt like it was taking a long time to spool up. But when it did, pulled like always.
Saturday morning, car felt very sluggish. Wouldn't rev past ~3k rpm. Didn't feel the turbo kicking in.
Got to the shop, came out. Car is very definitely wrong, even stationary wont run past 2k rpm.
I've promised a mate I'll pick him up from the train station, not enough time to cancel so I drive there to meet him (it'll do 30mph in 3rd gear at ~2k rpm). Park up and have a bit of a play.
All pipes etc. feel like they should, nothing seems to be losing air/split. Nothing feels loose.
Shut it down for a few minutes. Started it back up, engine feels fine. Can hear the turbo spooling and it's revving like usual. 30 seconds of running later, it's back to nothing more than 2k rpm.
This morning I took her to the garage, back to ~3k rpm limit. Pulled up in the car park. Shut it off, went inside. Mechanic came out to have a look, it seemed fine. Then, again, about 30s to a minute after starting it up all went wrong and the turbo just doesn't spool again.
Given on occasion the turbo feels/runs fine, I'm really hoping this is just a sensor or something simple. Are there any other major issues this could be? Given the car has already cost me £800 this month, I could do with it being a cheap fix.
